Paarl, South Africa – 24 October 2025
Insect Science made history as the first company ever to win three awards in one year at the Lottoland ontbytSAKE Onderneming van die Jaar event, held at Nederburg Wine Estate in Paarl on 23 October 2025.
The annual awards celebrate South African businesses that demonstrate excellence, innovation, and impact across various sectors.
Insect Science, based in Tzaneen, Limpopo, develops pheromone-based pest management technologies that support sustainable agriculture. The company received awards in three categories:
- Best Video Feature by an Agri-Enterprise
- SAKEwinkel Winner
- Overall Silver Winner
Group CEO Gerhard Booysen accepted the awards on stage. He attended the event together with Managing Director, Dr Vernon Steyn, and Marketing Manager, Anna Bannink.
“This recognition reflects not only our innovation but also the integrity and hard work of our entire team,” says Booysen. “We’re honoured to be recognised among South Africa’s best and remain focused on advancing our Responsible Pest Management™ approach - helping growers worldwide reduce pesticide use through science-based solutions.”
Insect Science’s achievements were celebrated alongside other leading South African brands such as Laeveld Agrochem, Ouma Rooi Koeksisters, and Henwil Chickens - the latter taking home the overall Gold Award.
With this triple win, Insect Science not only cements its place among South Africa’s most trusted agri-businesses but also demonstrates that true excellence runs more than surface deep. As the company expands globally, it continues to serve South Africa and beyond with reliable, pheromone-based pest management solutions that help farmers grow with confidence.
